routing USB V & signals to teensy LC directly, bypassing the teensy micro connector?

I want to avoid using the Micro usb on the teensy LC itself and want to do something like this, in the image below.
I tried removing the image what was wired wrong, but can't see how to do that... anyway, see my improved image below Paul's Yikes! reply.

Yikes, don't connect the GND wire to VIN on Teensy LC. It needs to connect to GND, next to pin 0.

This should work if you connect GND properly and the wires aren't "too long" for 12 Mbit USB speed. A few inches (~8 cm) is probably fine.

Best to keep GND, D- & D+ physically close to each other. The larger the physical gap between those wires, the more it degrades the high speed signal. USB cables are made with D+ & D- twisted together and GND nearby and the whole thing surrounded by a shield connected to GND.
 
woops, yes! A serious case of the upside down and flipped around, blues.
