Hi,

I'm new with the teensy (i used several arduino boards and esp32 in many project, but this is my first time with audio stuff...)
So i ordered a teensy 4.0 and the audio shield, and solder the board and the shield together. But now the entire thing appears to be dead since i plugged in through USB and the led is not bliking on the board and nothing is detected by windows...
i read somewhere on internet to press the button for 15 seconds to reset it but it seems to don't have any effects...

if someone have anything that can help me with this situation it could be great :)

otherwise i'm gonna order a new one i guess! (but how to know if that comes from the shield or the teensy?)

thanks,

Ewan

Hi Ewan, is there enough spacing between Teensy 4 and Audio shield? Perhaps the SDcard connector shorts to bottom components of the T4.
And do you have the orientation of T4 and shield correct?

Paul

Can you show us photos, so we can see? Sometimes when things go wrong by a misunderstanding, the only way to help is if we can see what was actually done.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the quick answer!

the T4 and audio shield are in the right direction.
the two boards are +/- 3 mm appart. Pretty hard to see if there is a short, i'm undoing my soldering from yesterday and i will let you know if that was it!

thanks,

Ewan

and there is what i have done, don't pay attention to the soldering under the audio shield because i just removed it in order to give a bit more space between the boards!

Ewan

That black plastic on the headers is usually 2.5-3mm high. And that is too close. Why don't you set a height of 4-5mm between the boards?

Paul

Looks like the boards are too close. Parts on the bottom side of Teensy 4.0 will touch the SD socket on the audio shield.
