Any thoughts on Mouser / NXP saying EndOfLife for iMXRT1062 ??

Hi,

I am considering Teensy 4.1 for a project which may become commercial.

I find from Mouser and NXP that the IC MIMXRT1062DVJ6A which powers the Teensy 4.1 is listed End Of Life.

https://au.mouser.com/ProductDetail/NXP-Semiconductors/MIMXRT1062DVJ6A?qs=0lSvoLzn4L9s91DnqP7Crg==

" ... End of Life: Scheduled for obsolescence and will be discontinued by the manufacturer."

https://www.nxp.com/part/MIMXRT1062DVJ6A#/

" ... Not Recommended for New Designs
While existing customers can still order the part, NXP does not recommend the part be designed into new end products. "

Any thoughts ? I would hopefully have a product that lasts for at least 5 trips around the sun >D

Tony Barry

Part xxxxA has been replaced by xxxxB

So "A" is EOL

Newer T_4.x's will use the "B" part and Paul noted they have been tested to work ...

Supported Chips
Update, July 7, 2021: PJRC has a small supply of extra IMXRT1062DVJ6B chips. If you need a small number (up to 10 pieces) for prototyping and can't find them, contact us. We may be able to help.
An IMXRT microcontroller and flash memory chip must be paired with this MKL02 to form a working system. No programming or other setup is needed on these other chips. Blank chips sold by distributors are used.

IMXRT1062DV*6B or IMXRT1062DV*6A (NXP)
...

Thank you defragster. Much appreciated. The B item is classed as "New" by Mouser and I presume NXO.

That implies seven years of production. Plus some rattle room.

I've updated the Teensy 4.1 schematic for the B chip. I believe the schematic is the only place with the "A" chip is actually mentioned, right?

On Teensy 4.0 we're still shipping boards with the A chip. It will switch to the B version later this year.

Thank you Paul for the reply ... the term "IMXRT1062DVJ6A" being the IC number for the Teensy 4.1 processor appears here:-

https://www.pjrc.com/teensy/techspecs.html (in the table)

https://www.pjrc.com/store/teensy41.html (in the schematic as you noted, and on the photo of the Teensy 4.1 board)

https://www.pjrc.com/store/ic_mkl02_t4.html (in the text about which chips are usable, the B version is mentioned along with the A version - I did not see that before :-0, although I think defragster mentioned it in his posting above).

Regards
Tony Barry

I've edited the tech specs table. Just dropped the "A", as it doesn't seem like essential info for comparing the specs.
