Is it possible to connect an external microphone, such as this one (with a simple 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter) to the Teensy audio adapter? Are you able to connect it directly through the 3.5mm port on the Teensy audio adapter? If not, are you only able to use I2S microphone breakouts? Thanks.

No, definitely not. The 3.5mm jack on the audio shield is an output. You can't use it as an input, for a mic or any other type of signal. It's strictly an output.

You might be able to use it with the mic input, which is 2 small pads on the left side. I'm not familiar with that particular mic and I don't see any datasheet or tech specs on the Amazon page, so difficult to say if it will work with the audio shield's mic input, which gives a small DC bias to power the mic.

The mic is a pizeo mic and works in my Focusrite with Phantom Power off so hopefully it should work. I'll report back if it does or not.

Thank you Paul for all your work on this project and responding so quickly to forum posts!
