Jumper to separate VUSB from V-external

Hello,

I am supplying 5VDC to Teensy 4.0 from a 5V 7805 regulator. I read on the Teensy 4.0 card that the jumper connecting VUSB and V-external/battery should be cut if using an external 5V. Will the Teensy 4.0 be damaged if this jumper is Not cut when using an external 5V?

Thanks!

If the jumper is not cut then the device at the other end of the USB cable (ie your PC) could well be damaged

Thanks bigg!
I was thinking about a possible problem related to the VUSB and the V-external supply fighting each other?
.

Paralleling voltage regulators can result in one or both going into oscillation. This can damage the regulator and also cause overvoltage on the regulated line. It usually doesn't happen, but it's better not to risk it.
