Cassette Martenot

Hi !

I have this idea for a long time in mind : create a Martenot like instrument, with one single cassette, and a position sensor like this :

The idea is to put a single band (going in loops) with the record of a continued note (for exemple an organ, in D1.)

The position of the finger on the position sensor gives the speed of the rotation of the tape. This way we have a Cassette Martenot.
I think a teensy could do easily that.

Do you think it's possible ? Any advice ?

Thanks !

Hello
I know that the simpler way to mimic Ondes "ruban" is use an analog VCO chip
like SoundSemi ones, but if I well understood you want to make some like a
Mellotron ?

PS Francophone ?

Chic alors !
SoundSemi stuff Is fully analogic, of course output is basic waveforms, maybe
you can use a 4.1 with sampled sounds on SD card and control with a Spectra
ribbon pot ?

I want to have a constant note on a tape (for exemple D4) and then play with the speed of the rotation of the band to create different notes. I hope you understand !

Hi, yes a mellotronic instrument, but with only one tape, that can be pitched by playing with speed. Yes I want a mechanical tape deck, it's for an art project.

Now is more clear, well you can use a uC, connect a ribbon pot to ADC and
control a motor via PWM.
I guess you can use a Teensy LC for that
