There was just the WS2811 LED strip. Removing that somehow freed up the Teensy and let it start responding again. All working now. Thanks.

I think i'm still having this problem even though I upgraded to 1.1.6. I'm running in to a problem loading programs with both 1.1.5 and 1.1.6 on a macbook air running 10.8.4. I've got one teensy 3 which just has the blink program, it's working. Then i've got one hooked up to an adafruit WS2812...
