Recently fried boards

I have recently fried a 4.1 and a 4.0. I am not sure what is going on. I don't believe that I have a cable problem. Could it be a USB port on my computer? One week I am using the 4.0 to light up some ADA 102s. The next time I used it there was no response when I plugged it in to my computer. It was not recognized. The board felt warmer to hotter than usual when it was plugged in (even though dead). I was powering a strip of 56 ADAs. I did not have any other power source connected. The strip is part of a much larger array of strips. I.E. Lighting up the first 56 of an array of 5376. I do not have any diodes are anything else connected for protection.
Any thoughts on what I can try to determine the problem would be appreciated. I am not sure what to troubleshoot. I have more boards on order and don't want to fry those.
Thanks

Pictures of wiring, along with a wiring diagram would be really useful to help troubleshoot !!

Side question: do you happen to have a fuse connected to the LEDs? It’s good practice.

I have recreated it. This is how it was connected to the Teensy. The other picture shows the array I had it connected to. The power source was the USB it was connected to. The code I was using only had 56 lights (one strip). Thanks

I do not. I have another array of 2812 lights that I did not have any issues with. I will check out the video. Thanks
