RGB backlit for a keyboard

hi,

i would like to gather some opinions on the best way to implement RGB backlit for a keyboard using teensy v4.0

The switches will be a 6*22 matrix PCB with breakout port to connect to a tennsy v4.0 (i understand and able to implement this section)

For the backlit, i would like to have individual matrix cell LED addressable. Should i go for a SmartLED Martrix Shield

or is there a simpler implementation.

Thanks for commenting.

Thanks for the quick reply. i just got delivered a keychron RGB keyboard an hour ago. Not very impressed i must said.

RGB lighting effect is more of a distraction than assistant. Looks like a pain old RGB strip is the way to go.

And it greatly simplify the implementation and cost, hahaha.

Any way thanks for the guide, i will take a look at the link for others projects on mind.

Cheers
