Thanks a lot, @houtson ! Amazing that the AI found the two bugs, I corrected them in my code.
However, the two other reported "bugs" are not bugs. The AI failed to recognize full initialization of the FFT mask buffers and was also wrong with...
Jay, thanks a lot for the information! Sorry, obviously I misinterpreted the thread: I was not aware that the two codecs share the same library base. I was asking because I am looking for a codec board for two future projects: a mic array (4-8...
Alain, only thing I can say is that I successfully ordered one a few weeks ago. I think they left an old comment on the website (available since 8 months 😉)?
Walter, thanks for your comment! Still learning a lot in this interesting topic. The mics are unequally spaced at 0, 45mm, 75mm, 120mm. This probably influences beam form and sidelobes differently according to steering angle, maybe?
I may try to...
Interestingly, I found it very hard to find general information on microphone beamforming that is suitable for non-EE-engineers like me.
But I think your questions could be answered here, I found that info very helpful...
I simplified the calculation of the beamforming (now without expansion). Also the beamforming effect should be tested with an audio source in the far field, i.e. at least 1m away from the mic array. And it should be tested with the beamforming...
The SongBeam is a new add-on board for the Teensy 4.1 and has been developed at the Royal Holloway University of London:

It is open source and can be purchased at LabMaker...
The Kickstarter iron looks interesting. However, with only 10W, I think there could be problems with soldering parts on large ground pads or 4-layer/6-layer PCBs. My iron has 80W and I use rather broad tips even for small parts (603), because...
Discussed over the years ... IIRC ... Given the PJRC bootloader it may be compatible, or work with TeensyDuino ... but naming and such cannot violate the PJRC naming rights of the Teensy branding, or suggest it is a PJRC sanctioned item.
Thanks...
Yes, I agree, this conversation needs to migrate to Adafruit's forum. We've allowed it to go on long enough here. We're far past unproductive and now a few solid days into disrupting this community.
@ptorrone - Please create a thread on your...
You are right for loud Signals. But bird songs/calls tend to be faint signals far away. And for this, you would want the highest sensitivity and highest SNR. And, believe it or not, the AOM5024 and EM272 do really have these specs. I have used...
EVERY single BirdNET detection has to be carefully checked manually by visual inspection of the spectrogram and listening BEFORE submitting to xenocanto or ebird.
Please do not implement any "automatic" batch upload possibility of unchecked...
Addon: the AOM5024 and EM272 have such high sensitivity, that you do not need a preamp at all. I have tested both, with and without preamp. Just connect the electret mic to your USB sound card.
HP filtering is not necessary, the BirdNET-classifier takes the frequencies it needs and rejects unneeded. However, you will have False positives of eg. Great Bittern etc. caused by traffic noise an airtraffic. But you can put those bird species...
If you want to capture all migrating birds from all directions, I would suggest using one single electret mic, eg. AOM5024 or EM272.
The ICS43434 are MUCH noisier and -even more important- much more sensitive to moisture and rain. So, with the...
