Issues with Arduino IDE 2.1 and Teensy 4.1

I cleared out the temp directory and everything works now.

To all of those who helped on these problems, I sincerely appreciate the help...thanks again.

I ran into the same issue. I deleted this folder:
C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\.arduinoIDE

And everything was fine.

Hallo everyone :)

I have Arduino 2.1 installed and the following compiler error: Compilation error: exit status 1

Attached is my Output File and Arduino project file.

Thanks a lot for helb :)

PS: (I've been working on this problem for 3 days and can't find a solution)

Looks like the linker is failing with lots of duplicate symbols.

For example step_table:
You have defined in data_bandlimit_step.c.

But you are also using Audio librar and bringing in that same symbol, in it's data_bandlimit_step.c
Code:
Using library Wire at version 1.0 in folder: C:\Users\rolfd\AppData\Local\Arduino15\packages\teensy\hardware\avr\1.58.1\libraries\Wire

exit status 1
And my quick glance looked like it was the same table...

Which I believe is also a file in Audio.cpp. So again if both have the same functions in them, then you will end up with duplicates.

And if they are different then your synth_waveform.cpp has in it:
Code:
extern "C"
{
	extern const int16_t step_table [258] ;
}
Which would be resolved by including the table from the audio library. It feels like your code includes some (or a whole lot) of the Audio library and also includes the Audio library. This will likely cause a these types of linking issues.

Not sure of the best way for you to resolve this. Remove all dependencies from Audio library? Rename more or less everything you are adding to have different names? Sorry I am not an expert on the Audio library so maybe someone else has some better ideas.

Good luck

I just renamed the table. Now the icons in Output are gone. But unfortunately there is still a big problem. The compiler stops without an error message!?

I will now try on old version 1.8.16 of Arduino :confused:

Do you have the Compile and Upload verbose mode turned on? You do that using the File --> Preference menu sequence. That might give you more information on the error(s). Your error file shows duplicate definitions for BandLimitedWaveform() and a bunch for data narrowing. I've not seen the narrowing message with the Arduino IDE, but in other compilers I've used, it's like to trying to shoehorn a 4-byte long into a 2-byte int...two bytes of data gets slopped on the floor. Usually, not good. I think most are the data types being passed to a function don't match the prototype, but it could be a simple data type mismatch. I think it's the former because the compiler seems to do a silent cast on simple assignments.

Hallo..

I solved the compiler problem. A function in my c code was misspelled. I only now noticed this error. The function has no return value, but void was missing before the function name.

Correctly programmed
Code:
[COLOR=#333333]FLASHMEM void print_String(uint16_t index, uint8_t xpos, uint8_t ypos) {[/COLOR]

My old code
Code:
//*************************************************************************
// print const Text string from flash memory to xpos ypos on screen
//*************************************************************************
FLASHMEM print_String(uint16_t index, uint8_t xpos, uint8_t ypos) {     // uuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhh  I `m so stupid

    char buffer[20];
    strcpy_P(buffer, (char*)pgm_read_dword(&(String_Tab[index])));
    tft.setCursor(xpos, ypos);
    tft.println(buffer);
}

Thanks for help :)

Glad you got it working. If you are still getting that very large set of warnings, it might be worth resolving them. Many were simple, such as assigning const float* to float*, passing signed to unsigned arguments, etc. Those are very easy to fix, and if you do have an error, will make it easier to see what's wrong.

Indeed, need to enable and scan Verbose build and look for warnings.
The other day did a quick int func(){,,,} and forgot the int func(){...; return intX;} - code built and CRASHED : finally saw the 'warning of NO RETURN' and problem solved. It took an hour to see that during online programmer chat when something else was assumed to be the problem!
